Storage Space Application
Storage space for a project in Coscine can be requested via the JARDS platform. You can find out exactly how this works and what considerations you can make in advance on this page.
Apply for storage space
The following criteria must be met to apply for storage space resources:
- You have created a project and any associated sub-projects in Coscine (see Create project and [Sub-projects])
- You know how much storage space is required for the main project (and the respective sub-projects) and have already created these in Coscine
- You are employed at a participating university or organisation (students and external parties cannot apply for storage space, this must be done by the employed project manager)
- You know which metadata profile you want to use and how you want to save the metadata (see Metadata and metadata profiles)
Is everything correct? If so, you can apply for storage space via the JARDS platform.
Review of storage space requests
The storage space will be reviewed by a Storage Reviewer from your home organisation and a reviewer from an external organisation. The Storage Reviewer from your home organisation will contact you if there are any queries. Please note that the review and allocation of storage space can take up to 4 weeks. If everything is in order, we will allocate the requested quota to your project. You will receive a confirmation e-mail once the storage space has been allocated.
!!! Info ‘Note’ The questions that must be answered in the technical review by the Storage Reviewer are shown in Figure 1 and can help you to complete the storage space application.
Something still unclear? Then visit our pages on [Creating a project] and Metadata and metadata profiles or contact us.
Test projects / test accounts
There are no test accounts in Coscine. Likewise, no test storage space is allocated to users for individual projects. If you want to test the use of storage space resources, we will invite you to a specially created test project with 1 GB S3 storage space for 2 months. Accordingly, the project is named after the date of deletion and cannot be selected individually.
Requests for a test project are made via the respective support e-mail address of the university (contact). The following information is required:
Names and e-mail addresses of all persons relevant for the testing as well as the organisation (e.g. RWTH Aachen University).
If you require more storage space or a longer period of time for your test, please let us know by email, stating the reasons.
!!! Info ‘Note’ The duration of the test is 2 months from invitation to the test project. You can see the cancellation date in the title of the project. At the end of the 2 months, you will be removed from the project and any files and associated resources will be deleted.
