Project owners receive their role either automatically by creating a project or by being assigned it by other project owners. Persons with the owner role can only leave a project or downgrade themselves to member or guest once another person has been made an owner. Projects without at least one person with the owner role are not possible.

People with the owner role have extensive rights, which are shown in the following table.
